I’m posting this late enough that it might be Thursday for some of my exercise buddies. Here’s a chance to check in and share what you’re up to (or not). Or, you can post a comment over at the Exercise Buddy page, like Taran and Sunni did the other day. Since Sunday I’ve been on three walks. Sunday afternoon Rosie and I took the dogs on a nice walk on the trail behind the shop. Yesterday, I took a lunch time stroll with my friend Kayely and Mr. Skeeter. Today, Lew and I took both the pups out on the trail for a quick jaunt. I was wondering: what is something you are struggling with? For me, not having a second helping at dinner is really difficult. I’ve been trying to take less the first go around, so I can feel psychologically fulfilled by partaking in a second helping, yet still be within the single serving proportion. Sometimes it works, sometimes I give in to the temptation to take “just a little more.” I hope all is well in your corner of the world and that you are feeling good about your commitment. Take care.

[W]hat is something you are struggling with?
Overeating. Still. Which means unneeded second portions at dinner, but worse, wandering into the kitchen and snacking, just because food’s there and I’m there. As I said elsewhere, though, I am doing better: the truffles are hidden away so I can’t easily get at them, and when I do indulge, it tends to be with fruit or carrots, rather than junk food or candy.
My goal is to feel hunger at least once every day. So far this week, I think I’ve achieved it.
Sigh…me too on the overeating thing. I do fine for a few hours on raw fruit and veggies only – in fact, Thunder found a really good book on the subject called Green for Life that’s written by the Raw Family lady, and we’ve been enjoying these green smoothies in the mornings.
BUT…I dunno, I just get to craving salty snacks and more substantial food. It’s a struggle that I think I’m slowly winning, at least I hope so, because the smoothies and fruits etc. do help me feel better, cleaner.
What’s weird is how I had an easier time on a fresh juice fast last year than I’m having now trying to EAT raw. I guess I’m more of an all-or-nothing personality than I thought. It’s easier to eat nothing, than to try to walk the line of eating something, but only certain things and not too much. I’m really surprised how hard this has been.
Wishing you all well in your quests.
Do you think your craving may be a quest for protein, Taran? The one possible difficulty in a raw diet is making sure you’re eating enough foods with proteins. Also, you have to make sure you’re eating two plant protein sources at one time to get the full benefit of the essential amino acids. Here’s a website with a list of plant based foods and their protein content: http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/protein.htm
I hope you continue to see more wins in your raw diet! Thank you for sharing your struggles and information here.
