Red Scarf Project

Back in May, I posted a link to photos of my first completed knitting project over at TCF (now TMM). FreedomMonkey posted a reply, cluing me in to the Red Scarf Project. His wife knits scarves for this worthy cause, which gifts foster children enrolled in college with lovely Valentine’s Day care packages that [...]

not everything is bummersville here

Tee created a yummy recipe. He was craving a Jamba Juice smoothie yesterday, so I told him to check out the freezer to see what kind of berries I had stashed in there. He found some blackberries, which he paired with green apple, orange blossom honey, Dole Orange-Strawberry-Banana juice, and vanilla yogurt [...]

On a sad note…

That little girl I recently wrote about, who had neuroblastoma, didn’t make it.  She passed away and her funeral was held today. I ache for her family; the thing to take to heart in such a miserable situation is the fact the little girl is no longer in pain.

Crisp Fall Days

Fall is definitely here.  Yesterday and today, when I walked Miss Virginia on the trail behind our shop, I could see salmon jumping in the river that meanders through the gully below the trail.  She may be getting up there in doggie years, but she still has sharp senses.  She found a garter snake hiding [...]

What’s Really Important?

During a conversation with another friend this weekend, I had wondered how my friend R-Squared was fairing. Her mom has battled cancer for over three years and the last time R-Squared was in Seattle, her mom took a turn for the worst but was still fighting.
R-Squared emailed me tonight and shared that her mom’s [...]

Blinded by science

Sometimes we can be so smarty-pants about science. I love it when I read about an anomaly that doesn’t line up scientifically, so we get a good dose of reality.  Duh— we really don’t know every nook and cranny that’s part of the puzzle of life.
From the Seattle P.I.: Mule does impossible….

Let’s Yak About Art: Holocaust Art

Have you read about the album of drawings and watercolors Shari Klages’ father, Arnold Unger, brought with him when he emigrated to the U.S? He acquired it after being freed from Dachau at the end of WW2. The mystery is how did Unger become its keeper. The art was created by man [...]

Sorry Cracker

Is the Party over here? Noooo.
Is the Party over there? Not Reeeaaallly.

I’m feeling a bit lost today. I’m not sure the following is the answer:
Go to Mapquest and put in Me for the starting point and put in Party for the destination. Do I need to know where the Dennys are along the [...]

Knitting projects

I’ve been knitting quite a bit lately. I have several projects in the works. Would you like to see some of them?
Here’s a scarf I finished about a month ago. It’s made with velvety-soft black/gray angelhair yarn.

This is the front of a purse I’m making. The main stitch in the pattern is [...]

Jam Photos

Here’s the photos of my jam making pursuits I promised:
Boy, do my kitchen cupboards need a facelift! I made pancakes on Saturday, and the blackberry jam/syrup tasted so good! Fresh, fresh berry flavor—– Damn the consistency.
