Container Chow

If you’d like to grow some of your own food, but find yourself sans yard, try container gardening on your deck.
Chris Smith offers practical advice about growing food in minimal space. I like that he offers suggestions on what to plant together and how to plan for a spring/summer crop, then another crop [...]

You’re never too old to go to space camp

It’s the small things that can utterly consume us; it’s also the small things that save us in the end.
“Did you like the cookies?”
“Yes. Thank you for forcing me to eat them”

Speaking of the little moments that make life worth living

Last night Lew and I went over to Deadhead Girl’s house to sit in her hot tub. We do this on a regular basis, because she is very kind and it feels so good to relax in the hot tub after a long day at work.
Last night the experience was amazing. It’s been [...]

When will we have a reprieve?

A provocative post from PSM (penguinsscareme) showed up at Wolfesblog yesterday.
My folks lived in Fort Worth, Texas when JFK was assassinated. I know what an impact it made on their world in a superficial way. I’ve never asked them, however, what range of emotions they went through on that [...]

Anyone familiar with doggie hives?

Miss Virginia has broken out in what appears to be a case of hives. Deadhead Girl’s dachshund is allergic to pineapple (don’t ask how he got a hold of pineapple; it’s a long story) and he broke out in hives from it. Her bumpiness looks just like the hives he had minus [...]

Just in case you don’t feel the Internet offers you enough search engine capabilities, Kevin Federline can help. You can search the web with Kevin. Maybe you could win an invite to his birthday party. I’ve heard he’s hard [...]

A Quick Note

Yesterday, I took Rosie to the E.R. and she was admitted into the hospital.  Two pints of blood later, she’s feeling much better.  It looks like she’ll be here for another day or two. More tests, ect.
YAY for laptops and wifi.  I’ll write more when I can.

:20 Funny Festival

Okay, I’ve been to the KMTT website twice in the last 10 minutes. Am I blind, or is there nothing up yet about the :20 Festival line-up on their webpage?
Could this been a glorious heads’ up, before the official line-up announcement?
Thank you Marty (or Marty’s little helper) for stopping by Yak [...]

Life in Lewville

I’m listening to Lenny Kravitz (great voice and totally easy on the eyes) and cooking at the moment. I’m making a Tuscana-inspired chicken soup with lots of beans, veggies and tofu; in the oven, egg custard is baking.
Rosie isn’t feeling well at all. To protect her privacy, I won’t go into the why, but [...]
